A Reaction To Oliver Stone’s “Nuclear Now”

.

This section will contain, inter alia, our traditional Short Quiz and Suggested Answers.

HOWEVER, we have championed thorium fission many times over the years.

Most recently with our letters to each of the 2019-2020 Democrat Debate Moderators, each of whom refused to even mention Climate Change, much less nuclear energy – even though two candidates, Sen. Cory Booker and Sen. Michael Bennet were, at the behest of Bill Gates, strong supporters of uranium fission and sponsors of successful nuclear legislation.

ALL OF THE 2019-2020 DEMOCRAT DEBATE MODERATORS IGNORED EVEN CLIMATE CHANGE AS IF WIND-SOLAR WERE ON THE TABLETS MOSES BROUGHT DOWN FROM MOUNT SINAI.

A summary of our findings and campaigns aimed at decision makers occupies the last 75% of the lengthy 4/25/2023 e-mail from John Karls to his 1967 Harvard Law School classmates following their weekly 4/24/2023 Zoom chat.

That e-mail is posted in this section because, even though it includes a wealth of information which we have developed over the years which might be considered more appropriate for our “Reference Materials” section, it is posted here as a “Participant Comment” because, after all, it is only a summary and does not include the voluminous sources for the facts that it contains.

If anyone would like cross-links to the materials for our many meetings re thorium fission containing the sources for the facts in the 4/25/2023 e-mail, please send your request(s) to ReadingLiberally-SaltLake@johnkarls.com.

Dear John,

I am wondering what your reaction to “Nuclear Now” was/is.

I am also wondering whether you stand by the title to the Short Quiz – “Is ‘A Bright Future’ [the book on which ‘Nuclear Now’ is based] A Cruel Hoax To Falsely Disqualify Nuclear Energy For Cost Reasons?” – which BTW was also the last question in the Short Quiz.

Your friend,

Solutions

Dear Solutions,

Thank you for your inquiries.

Taking them in reverse order, I believe that whether “A Bright Future” is a “cruel hoax…..” is a legitimate question for discussion. After all, it ignores cost considerations virtually completely as documented in the Suggested Answers to the Short Quiz.

HOWEVER, vis-à-vis “Nuclear Now” I believe there can be no doubt that Oliver Stone is a passionate “true believer”!!!

Yes, it is true that he ignored thorium completely (if memory serves) and that the various issues are presented in a somewhat disjointed fashion (which is the nature of documentaries which comprise, largely, a series of interviews).

BUT I admired how he hammered away at how nuclear energy is the victim of a long-time “scare campaign” that was NOT warranted.

AND I admired how he emphasized that climate change is such an existential threat to humankind that it is time to re-examine whether the “scare campaign” with which humanity has been “brain washed” is accurate.

AND I admired how he emphasized that young people have, by and large, been willing to re-examine the “scare campaign” and discard it.

BRAVISSIMO, OLIVER STONE!!!

BTW, all of the movie theaters in 37 states had only one showing – last evening – so I am hoping that I won’t have to travel to see it again before our May 17 meeting (it would have been illegal, though perhaps not unethical under the circumstances, to have made an in-theater recording for reference purposes).

Your friend,

John K.
