Al Jazeera Spreading Propaganda/Hatred for the US/Europe

My critiques in six major areas to “Reconciliation” are collected here. Most of them draw, despite dispensing with footnotes for the sake of brevity and simplicity, on having read 12-15 biographies and historical tomes annually for 33 years of marriage (and the 7 years since) to the co-author of the country’s best-selling H.S. world history text (McGraw-Hill with National Geographic maps/illustrations – now in its 6th edition and counting). Despite these critiques, it is impossible to express how utterly impressed I am with the incredible knowledge and understanding possessed by Benazir Bhutto, how completely devoted she was to the welfare of the Islamic world in general and her country in particular, and how incredibly brave she was in fatally confronting a military that had already assassinated her father and two brothers.

The Role of Al Jazeera in Spreading Propaganda/Hatred for the U.S. and Europe

It is worth noting that “Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy and the West” never mentions Al Jazeera (or any other members of the media in the Islamic world) and its role in spreading propaganda/hatred for the U.S. and Europe!!!

One wonders why not!!!

After all, Benazir Bhutto is a champion of democracy!!! And democracy cannot function properly without a free and fair news media!!!

(For this last statement, one need only marvel over how Hitler didn’t care that American war correspondents such as William Shirer had free rein to go anywhere and report anything DURING THE TWO YEARS between the British declaration of war against Germany in 1939 and Pearl Harbor in 1941 – because Hitler knew that his Minister of Propaganda, Joseph Göbbels, would control every shred of information reaching the German public.)

Though perhaps we should “cut some slack” for Benazir Bhutto – after all, she had every expectation of becoming once more Prime Minister of Pakistan if not sooner assassinated, so why should she alienate Al Jazeera and the Islamic media with pertinent and well-merited comments!!!

After all, she does criticize at length the Islamic Madrasses (which she characterizes, except for their virulent and well-known militancy, as similar to Roman Catholic Parochial Schools in the Western World). Though she had already “crossed swords” with the Madrasses during both of the two periods she served as Prime Minister so she risked little in heaping more abuse on them.
