I propose we read "The Price of Inequality" by Joseph Stiglitz, a Prof. of Economics at Columbia and a winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics. I read parts from the book on the Internet and it seems to be reasonably well written. The major thesis seems to be playing down the Republican horror of deficits and focusing instead on the amazing dichotomy in salaries between the richest 0.1% and the rest of us, and on economic growth and jobs. It is not available in local libraries but is available from Amazon.com for $18.45 + shipping.
